Osceola Animal Services Art Contest

paint, draw, color, or sculpt a picture of a pet

By Helen Lovell-Wayne Kissimmee/ Saint Cloud publisher July 22, 2021

Tami Solano of animal services is organizing the 2nd yearly art contest for kids 5-15.  This contest is unique to Osceola County animal services.  It works like this: kids that enter will receive a picture of a pet. Then they can use any medium they want to create its likenesses.  Kids can use crayons, colored pencils paint, digital art, or even sculpt the animal.  Kids are allowed to create as many drawings as they want for this contest.  All drawings will be displayed on the company webpage.  This contest is entirely free for kids. Adults can send photos of their pets and $10.00, in return get a picture of their pet drawn by a kid.

Tami is a jovial woman with an infectious smile.  She informed me that she loves to run this contest because it helps bring the community together. Plus it is a fun way to help the shelter.    Osceola County government covers the salaries, the building, utilities and basic needs of the animals.  However additional funds are always needed to help cover the medical costs of the pets.  This contest is a fun way to provide the income needed to keep pets healthy.  The shelter also sponsors foster programs.  This is a program in which people adopt a pet when they are too young to neuter.  Animal services provide the family with food and medical care. Once the pet reaches the appropriate age they are returned to the shelter. Some of the money will go to that program as well. For more information click here.
