Now that some people have been vaccinated, many Osceola families want to explore the world.  Since kids under 12 cannot get a vaccine, it is best to best cautious.  Here are Florida destinations that include outdoor fun for the whole family

1) Merrit Island Wildlife Refuge- This place is quite beautiful and it is a birders paradise.  It is composed of140,000 acres found on the Atlantic Coast of Florida's largest barrier island. It contains over 21 endangered species of birds.  It also is home to over 68 species of amphibians and reptiles.  Sunrise and sunset are the best viewing times for animals.  But any time of the day, the place teems with wildlife.

2) Saint Augustine- This whole city has incredible architecture. Just driving around is an amazing experience.  However, if you wish to get out of the car they have many attractions including a national park called Castillo de San Marcos.  It is the oldest masonry fort in the continental United States.  The Castillo was designed by the Spanish engineer Ignacio Daza, with construction beginning in 1672.   This park has great deals for seniors so you might want to bring the grandparents on this trip.  The northern section of Saint Augustine is home to many state parks.  They are great places for birding and just enjoying the outdoors.

3) For those less inclined to visit a state or national park, you might think about visiting Dino World.  The Address is 5145 Harvey Tew Rd, Plant City, FL 33565.  We took my son when he was four to this attraction.  He loved it.  I would think that kids 5-12 get the most out of it.  It is outside and in a large space.  The dinosaurs are really well done and you can get a workout just walking around.

4)  About 1.5-hour drive north from Kissimmee will bring a resident to Wekiva Springs State Park.  This is one of the most breathtaking spots in Florida.  This park has kayaking, canoeing, and camping opportunities.  The springs are the highlight but hiking and exploring the other 7,000 acres is well worth it.  Try and spend as much time as possible here.  If you want your kid to become a junior ranger they can hand in the info at this park and then they get in free and sometimes they allow the adults in free as well.

5)  If you just want to experience a quaint city with lots of artistic talent head up to Mount Dora.  This whole city is teeming with musicians and actors.  They play on street corners and in parks.  They are most likely inspired by the beautiful city around them.  If you grab a bite to eat you will likely get something organic.  The food is out of this world.
